T

he University of Castilla-La Mancha, through its protocol for monitoring the Coronavirus and in coordination with the Board of Health for the Region of Castilla-La Mancha, has created this space for the whole university community in order to publish recommendations and relevant, verified information being developed by the Health Authorities. Additionally, a commission has been set up to monitor the situation and the actions generated by this crisis.

General Information about the virus and the illness

The Government in Castilla-La Mancha has opened a toll-free hotline for its citizenry offering accurate information and preventative measures against the Coronavirus. In addition, the hotline was set up to help resolve any questions or doubts that people may have and to dispel any misinformation. The number of the toll-free hotline is: 900 122 112.

Recommendations for travellers to and from affected areas

General Health and Hygiene Recommendations

General hygiene measures, which are effective against the flu and other viruses, are also the most effective against COVID-19:

  • If you suffer from a respiratory infection, avoid close contact with other people (at least 1 metre)
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water (vídeo)
  • Cover your mouth and nose, cough or sneeze into your elbow or with a Kleenex and throw it away immediately. Do not use a Kleenex more than once

Student internships in regional health centres

With respect to student internships in regional health centres the Board of Health in Castilla-La Mancha recommends that students do not do their internships in centres located in areas especially affected by SARS-CoV-2. This could include: Emergency Services, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), hospital wings with confirmed cases, or any other area that may be considered to be at high risk as the progression of the virus continues.
The university centres, in coordination with the Office of the Rectory, will continue to provide any further information as the situation evolves.
