1. What does this PhD Program consist of?

The aim of this PhD interuniveristy Program is to train researchers in the fields of Oenology, Viticulture and Sustainable agronomy to be capable of facing the different challenges of this sector. Challenges not only in research, but also from the different sector companies in order to meet the services need; and for this purpose, this program trains students for the development of their doctoral thesis.


2. Justification and references.

This Ph.D. Program in Oenology, Viticulture and Sustainability was demanded by different research groups, and it was created due to the training needs of the future researchers. It is also important to remember that this Ph.D. Program has been a demand of different research groups from other countries such as Iberoamerican (Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay) and different countries belonging to the Mediterranean area of the EU (Portugal, France, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria).

The previous program is the inter-university doctorate in Oenology, regulated by the former RD778/1998, which began in the 2003-2004 academic year, supported by an agreement signed by eight Spanish universities and which was recognized with the Mention of Quality by the General Directorate of Universities.

Objectives.

  1. To provide students with correct research training in the field of oenology, viticulture and sustainable agronomy.
  2. To interact with other research groups.
  3. To know the research resources available in the different research groups integrated in this program.
  4. To become familiar with the different experimental techniques and working methods, both usual and especially innovative, developed by the research groups.
  5. To acquire practical knowledge of those techniques that are likely to be used during the completion of the doctoral thesis.
