The institution

The Albacete Research Institute of Informatics (I3A) is a Research and Development Center of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) located in the Albacete University Campus.

Purpose and objectives

The I3A was established in 2002 as a dynamic element of those research initiatives of the UCLM related to computer science, which was already settled almost twenty years before the former Rector Founder, Dr. Isidro Ramos Salavert. The vocation of service and contribution to regional development of Castilla-La Mancha and the special interest in basic and applied research are, therefore, the two basic lines on which its work is based.

The primary objective of the I3A is research and transfer of results, in all lines or areas it develops, through the implementation of scientific projects, the direction of doctoral theses, and the recruitment of pre- and post-doctoral researchers.

A second objective is technology transfer through the development of projects in collaboration with companies, the transfer of patents, or the organization of scientific events such as conferences or workshops. The I3A offers all its human, technological and communication potential to those companies, organizations or institutions that demand its services.

A third objective is teaching, through the postgraduate training of specialists in the different subjects it researches, as well as the training and recycling of technical staff of organizations (public and private) with which it has a relationship

Last but not least, the I3A maintains a strong commitment to the dissemination of scientific knowledge to society, which includes the dissemination of results of research projects, the promotion of scientific culture in Castilian-La Mancha society, the promotion of scientific and professional vocations in computer science among its citizens, and the recognition of the work done by researchers.
